High energy and power: Pulsed fibre lasers are cut into small pulses by amplifying the laser to achieve higher peak power, giving them excellent cutting ability on hard, transparent and volatile materials.
High quality laser beam: Pulsed fibre lasers produce more polarised and compact laser beams, and these high-quality beams can be better focused, resulting in a wide range of applications in medicine, micromachining and cutting. The heat affected zone of short pulse laser perforation is so small that it is almost negligible, which is very important for some applications that require high material properties.
Precision machining: Pulsed fibre lasers are suitable for precision processing of materials that cannot withstand excessive thermal effects or have a brittle texture, such as processing of electronic chips, ceramic glass, medical and biological parts.
Highly reflective materials: For processing highly reflective materials such as copper and aluminium, pulsed fibre lasers can effectively process these materials due to their high peak power.

Continuous wave (CW) lasers
CW lasers have very short pulse widths, which can be in the nanosecond or even femtosecond range. This type of laser produces a continuous beam with no visible pulses.

Modulated pulsed lasers
These lasers produce a pulsed beam by modulating the input current to the laser or by modulating the drive signal. The pulse width can be controlled by the frequency and amplitude of the modulating signal, usually in the nanosecond to microsecond range.

Q-switched lasers
Q-switched lasers achieve a pulsed output by introducing a Q-switch into the laser cavity, which can be a passive element (e.g. a modulator) or an active element (e.g. an electro-optical modulator). These lasers also typically produce pulse widths in the nanosecond to microsecond range.
